Restraint is what reads as luxury. Choose one hero craft per room — a tadelakt shell, a single carved screen, one brass basin — and let everything else be quiet.

Colour should come from material rather than paint. Unpigmented plaster, unlacquered brass and untreated cedar age into a palette that no colour chart can replicate.

The test is simple: photograph the room in daylight and in candlelight. If it holds in both, the scheme is right.
